Welcome to the Year 9 section of the St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy website.
Our Year Theme is:
‘Journey to Adulthood.’
Year 9 is an important time for the development of our pupils. We focus on developing the pupil as a whole to include spiritual, moral and academic wellbeing. As a school we aim to help each pupil develop their full potential in all aspects of their school life in accordance with our Mission Statement.
The Journey towards adulthood asks many important questions of our pupils and sets out many challenges. Pupils will choose which subjects to carry through to GCSE to best equip them for the future and will spend time discerning their journey in faith. Confirmation is offered this year, and pupils will decide if they are going to step up to this challenge and reaffirm the promises made by their parents and Godparents on their behalf at Baptism.
Year 9 is a time where pupils begin to take more ownership of the path they are travelling on; however they should always know that they are not travelling this path alone. Friends, family and staff in school are there to support them every step of the way on their ‘journey to adulthood’.
As their journey in faith unfolds I hope that they find great strength within God. ‘For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’ Isaiah 41.14.
