OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE OF ST JOHN FISHER
St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy has an excellent reputation.
It is considered the first choice school for both Year 7 and the Sixth Form by local Catholic families. We produce young men and women who are good Catholic citizens. Our exam results at GCSE, BTEC, AS and A level represent exceptional achievement.
At SJF, students are encouraged to explore their faith, to engage in the spiritual life of school and participate in prayer and worship. Masses, retreats and pilgrimages are well supported, and form part of the wider school curriculum.
All students feel safe and valued, and take responsibility for ensuring that the school is free from racism and bullying. Students want to be at school, and consequently attendance is excellent. Student leadership pathways are evident across school and visitors are impressed by the exceptional courtesy and cooperation of our students.
Students take a real pride in their school, and conduct themselves well – whether in class or out. Students are responsible for their own learning, and make good use of their time. Classes are challenging and stimulating. Teachers plan effectively and produce excellent resources, differentiated to meet the needs of all students. They closely monitor individual progress, and intervene as required.
Students show real joy in their learning, and are committed to it. This can be evidenced by the independent use that they make of the school Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Our previous Sports College status means that sport remains a major focus for the school, and extra-curricular activity is widely available.
Both parents and students have high aspirations, and believe that the school prepares its students well for the future. The effective collaboration of parents, teaching and support staff is crucial to the positive learning experience of students.
Above all, St John Fisher’s is a community to which people want to belong.
