On Friday 25th November 2016, a group of Year 12 and Year 13 ‘A’ level Textiles and Design students visited the Harrogate Stitching Show at the main Harrogate Exhibition Centre. Students were able to view the work of professional, internationally acclaimed artists and talk to them about their work.
When asked about the Exhibition- students said;
‘The main hall exhibitions were very exciting and there was a wide variety of artists exhibiting their work. We were able to see first-hand the size and scale of the pieces and exactly how they had been made. The lower hall was showcasing for various Art and Design Colleges and Universities offering Textiles and Design. The work here was full of portfolios, sketch books and finished pieces. It clearly showed us what the students had produced and the design process they had used from their initial ideas. We were able to talk to the students and the tutors about the courses and careers available. Overall we would recommend this as a successful day, enjoyable and a great opportunity to collect information on artists, careers and ideas to use in our own work back in the classroom.’
