Gifted and Talented/More Able Astronomy Master Class

Gifted and Talented/More Able Astronomy Master Class at Mirfield Free Grammar with Mrs Gavaghan.

I took 3 year 8 pupils; Molly Reid, Keeley Honeybell and Noah Hawkins to as Astronomy Master class at Mirfield Fre

e Grammar School on Friday the 5th of July.

There were several schools represented at this event including Sale
ndine Nook, Colne Valley , Holmfirth High School and Mirfield Free Grammar School. The activity was to build a motorised moon buggy and then test it by measuring how far it travelled on the ground and then by if it could remain in one piece when dropped from a height.

The pupils then had to present their findings to the rest of the groups and they were marked on their overall performance in team working and producing a successful outcome.
Holmfirth were to overall winners so well done to them!
St John Fisher’s team came an impressive third overall and this was a fantastic achievement by our year eight team as the rest of the pupils were all year Nine!
Well done to our team! They also received a certificate for their hard work and are looking forward to going back next year to hopefully win the trophy !
